Hello Canva Tipsters
Sometimes, you need to blend things together to get the exact image that you want.
I know I’ve done videos on how to merge two images before, but this one is new and it’s much, much easier to do. To be perfectly honest, my preferred tool for merging images isn’t Canva at all. It’s Procreate on my iPad, but the point of this blog is to talk about Canva, so let’s see how we do it in Canva.
There’s new Canva app called Easy Reflections. It was made so that you could make reflections … er … easily. But one of the bright spark Canvassadors came up with an alternative use - fading the edges of images. Once you have images that fade into transparency, you can easily merge images together.
A quick personal message
If you’ll permit a small digression. My latest book came out last week. If you like my voice and would like to see it deployed to write romantic comedy, then please check out The Winner Bakes It All. You’ll probably recognise the cover - I’ve used it in some of the tutorials.
Okay, back to merging images in Canva!
Here’s the video tutorial showing you how to do it:
What would you use it for?
The most obvious use is in book cover images. So often, you find the perfect image, but it’s in landscape, so you need to do something to cover up space at the top or bottom of the book cover. You could add a black or white blur at the bottom, but that makes for a less interesting image. You could make your image taller by adding some sky (which handily gives you a nice big space on which to put your title too).
You could also use it to make unusual images - want a plucky farm girl standing underneath a sky with three moons … get separate photos and merge them.Â
I have spent so much time playing with this, making ridiculous things that I’m never going to use, but it was tremendous fun to make.
What would you use it for? Share any nice images you make in the Facebook group (www.facebook.com/groups/canva4authors) - or tag me on social media. I love seeing what you create from my tutorials.
As always, if you found this useful, please tell all your writer friends! There’s a handy recommend button on here…
See you next week!
