Hello Canva Tipsters
Sometimes, the things I make in Canva are just me playing with it to see what I can do. Today’s video is one those.
A few weeks ago, when I was messing around with the Type Extrude app, it occurred to me that the long shadows behind the text reminded me of a bat signal. I wondered it I could make a short animation where the text rises with the long shadow and then the shadow retracts. I really like the effect, so I’m sharing it with you now. I’m not very good at naming these things, so I’ve called it the Bat Signal effect.

A completely random anecdote - a long time ago, when I was a student, I came home from the lab one night, quite late (close to midnight). It was one of those cloudy nights where the sky felt lower than usual. I’d cycled home, so I was alone.
As I walked to the front door, a movement above me caught my eye. I looked up and saw a neon green circle in the sky. Weird. This then changed to a few other shapes, settled as a smiley face for a few seconds ... and then it disappeared.
I still don’t know what that was all about. I’m guessing it was some engineering students playing with a long range laser, projecting it onto the low hanging clouds. One of these days, I’m going to have to put that in a book.
Have a lovely weekend.
