Change backgrounds (and fix lighting) with one nifty tool

Hello!

Sometimes, you find the perfect backdrop for your book to sit in front of, but when you try it, it looks obvious that it’s been manipulated because the lighting levels are all over the place and the shadows don’t match (I know I go on about shadows, sorry. I guess ‘Silence in the Library’ had a bigger effect on me than I thought!).

Canva’s new ‘background generator’ tool helps get around this problem - not only will it generate a background for you, based on the prompts you put in, it will also fix the lighting issues.

This Canva tool is exciting, but it is also quite clearly generative AI powered. I wrestled with whether or not I should demo it, because I don’t like using AI more than I have to. In the end I came down on the side of ‘yes, because it’s useful for people to know about’.
