You know those old detective movie opening sequences with the spotlight that falls on the titles - that’s what we’re going for here.
Okay, so the obvious use for a spotlight animation is for a crime novel. Start with a ‘murder board’ and shine the spotlight on the different clues so that you can tell people more about your book. But I don’t write crime, so I made one with a romance book instead. With hindsight, I should have used bright pink instead of black… but never mind.
This took me ages to film and edit. It’s not complicated, but there are a lot of steps and I was working some of them out as I went along. It would have been a long video so I ended up having to shrink down the repetitive parts a bit.
Here’s the tutorial on how to make your own spotlight animation. Just click on the play button to watch on YouTube.
As always, if you enjoyed this video, please tell all your friends. If there’s something you’d like me to try and make - just reply to one of my emails and tell me. I’ll do my best!
Have a lovely weekend.
