How to make posts for Instagram in 2025
Instagram has changed posts sizes - here's what to do now
A few weeks ago, Instagram change the way they display their posts. It used to be that Instagram posts were square and they stacked up neatly on your profile grid, so that you could have a pretty profile page, if you wanted to. Now … the posts are 4:5 ratio rectangles (although, you can still post squares to your feed). This makes them more mobile friendly. BUT, when it comes to the profile grid, the size is slightly different and you lose a bit off the sides of your post, which means that, if you have anything important at the edges or you want everything to line up beautifully on the grid (more on this next week) you’re out of luck.
So what do we do? Well, we adapt. So here is my guide to the new Instagram post size and the margins you need to leave at the edges so that the key information still appears when the post displays on the profile grid.
I have put links to the Canva templates for the posts with guides, in the description of the YouTube video so that you can download them and use them. These are ‘template links’ so if you log into your Canva account first then click on the links, they will open a copy in your own Canva account. I’ll be back next week with a tutorial on how to make one of those lovely seamless profile grids.
Have fun designing!

Thanks for the tip. I enjoy using Canva, but am no expert
